fudgester SG I frown on people who read those magazines just for the sake of doing well for their GP. Once their A Levels are over, they would just toss them aside... I once asked a former JC classmate of mine about his opinion of the collision between an RSN ship and a tanker near Pedra Branca a few years ago. When he looked stunned and asked me on how I knew about it, I told him, 'Well, it's all over the news.' His response? 'Wah.... you still read the newspapers after the A Levels har?!?!'
Rhonda SG Trick question. YOu can only answer 'Yes' to that because if you were to use 'No', the entire sentence construction would have to change to 'No, I am NOT a cockroach.' You can be cheeky and say, 'Perchance, I am a cockroach?' and introduce a whole new dimension to that sentence!
av98m SG *cracks up remembering the hilarious news article with the PM encouraging teachers to utilise rap/hip hop to teach good English to students* OMG and years after that we have the post 65 MPs dancing hip hop!! Someone high up in the PAP is obsessed with hip hop!!!!
fudgester SG Oh yeah... that one. That made it to the 'Wacky News' sections of quite a number of newspapers around the globe. It just goes to show how far out of touch he is with the situation on the ground.
Rhonda SG Hell, no! It just means that those of us who choose to, can make a conscious effort to write well. Those of us who don't want to, just carry on doing whatever they're comfortable with! Afterall, languages are meant to be used for communication, not hamper it. Write on, hisoka!
stellazio SG must be the minister of cultural arts or sth like that. i mean, what the heck does he do anyway? so its probably him who came up with that idea.
Rhonda SG Habit. If we don't bother with doing something well, we soon fall into a rut, and then lo and behold, when you finally decide to get yourself out of the quagmire, you discover that you're too deeply entrenched liao! There's still nothing like Singlish for good emphasis!
